Better tooth preparations in fixed prosthodontics

A hands-on course provided by the Faculty of Dentistry RCSI on Saturday 16 January will provide a comprehensive review of principles and applications in fixed prosthodontic preparations.

This programme is designed for practitioners of all experience levels, from recent graduates to seasoned professionals. The day will focus on two-way discussion and idea sharing, offering an excellent opportunity to review techniques and explore new approaches.

The course will be primarily practical, with a variety of preparations carried out on manikin heads. A small amount of didactic material will cover the principles of tooth preparation and optimal techniques.

Topics include preparations for:

  • All-porcelain crowns
  • Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns
  • Conventional bridges
  • Maryland bridges

Participants will enjoy an excellent participant-to-faculty ratio, ensuring personalised guidance throughout. The course will be hosted by Dr Edward Cotter, Dr Gerry Cleary, Dr Anne Gunderman and Dr Paul Quinlan.
