Book now for NIMDTA Dental Conference 2027
The Northern Ireland Medical & Dental Training Agency (NIMDTA) has announced that bookings are now open for the NIMDTA Dental Conference, taking place on Friday 12 March 2027 at Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn.
This flagship event offers dental professionals the opportunity to gain six hours of verifiable CPD while learning from leading experts in clinical dentistry, oral health and workforce wellbeing.
Under the theme ‘Small Changes, Big Impact’, the conference will bring together distinguished speakers from across the UK and Ireland to explore practical approaches that can make a significant difference to patient care, professional practice and career sustainability.
Delegates can choose from two parallel programmes, enabling them to tailor their day according to their interests and learning needs.
Advancing clinical excellence
Programme One focuses on evidence-based patient care, prevention and minimally invasive dentistry. Sessions will cover topics including minimum intervention oral care, management of deep caries, vital pulp therapies and paediatric caries. Speakers include internationally recognised experts Professor Avijit Banerjee, Dr Annie Hughes, Professor Ikhlas El Karim, Dr Phil Tomson and Dr Alaa Bani Hani.
Supporting a sustainable workforce
Programme Two addresses key challenges facing today’s dental workforce, with sessions exploring menopause and oral health, healthy ageing, ergonomics, safeguarding, domestic abuse awareness and strategies for preventing professional burnout. Delegates will hear from respected speakers including Preetee Hylton, Poppy Dunton, Professor Gerry McKenna and Leigh Hunter.
In her welcome message, Brid Hendron, Postgraduate Dental Dean at NIMDTA, will highlight the importance of supporting both clinical excellence and workforce wellbeing, reflecting the changing landscape of modern dental practice and the need to care for both patients and professionals.
The conference provides an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues, gain insights from expert speakers and take away practical learning that can be applied immediately within everyday practice.
GDC Breakfast Session
As an added feature, delegates are invited to attend a GDC Breakfast Meeting at 08:30, where representatives from the General Dental Council (GDC) will deliver a short presentation on the Framework for Professionalism. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage directly with the GDC team, ask questions and discuss issues relevant to professional practice.
