Oral surgery masterclass

The Faculty of Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland is this autumn hosting a practical, specialist-led masterclass featuring hands-on oral surgery training and evidence-based updates in oral surgery and oral medicine.

Taking place on 26 September, the course will offer four 20-minute lectures and five practical oral surgery sessions.

The lecture topics will include surgical extractions, the management of oncology patients on bone modifying agents or radiation therapy, the impact of systemic disease on the oral cavity and appropriate referrals to the secondary care setting.

The interactive practical sessions will include hands-on tuition and exposure to the surgical extractions, suturing and bleeding management, a medical emergency update, clinical pathology case-based discussions alongside an anatomy and radiology update.

The course lead is Dr Harriet Byrne with support from Professor Gerry Kearns, Professor John Marley, Dr Kate Farrell, Dr Amanda Willis and Dr Peter Scarlett.

Spaces are limited and the Faculty recommends early booking.
